3 Reasons Why You're Not Immune to Data Loss From Your Hard Drive
By Allison Whitehead

Have you ever lost any data from your hard drive or similar device? It happens to many people every single day, and yet none of us think we're going to suffer in this way.

Of course this isn't the case. If you think it will never happen to you and it does, you could struggle to find a remedy to the situation. There are some good reasons why it could happen to you, and they are listed below.

1. Everyone has accidents from time to time.
We all spill coffee. We all drop crumbs when we're eating lunch at our desks. We all knock into tables and send things tumbling to the floor. Now imagine any one (or all) of these things happening in the vicinity of your hard drive. Hmm - it's not so easy to protect your data all the time after all is it?

2. No hard drive is completely unbreakable or immune to damage.
We covered this to some extent above with regard to damage. Even something as innocent as excessive dust can cause problems eventually. If you speak to the experts at any data recovery company they will probably tell you they've restored the data on hard drives that have been sat on, run over and even stepped on. Things happen - the best you can do is to minimise those risks and know who to contact if they still happen.

3. Anyone can suffer from a virus.
And no, we're not talking about the kind that has you taking to bed with a temperature for a few days (although you may feel like doing that if you lose access to your data). Computer viruses are the bane of our lives, and you can never be sure your internet security measures will protect you 100% from all the hazards that are out there. All it takes is one wrong move and suddenly your hard drive is corrupted and the data is all but lost.

Of course there are data recovery companies who can get you out of these sticky situations. It would be far better not to find yourself in this type of situation in the first place of course, but if it does happen you should make sure you go to the right person to help out.

The main point to note is that you should never assume your data is 100% safe. No matter how many protective and preventative measures you take, you never know whether something might happen. The key is to get help when it does.
